CHICAGO, Illinois — The Cleveland Indians completed their two-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night and took the season series, 3-1, with a 1-0 victory in a pitching battle between Adam Plutko and Jon Lester at Wrigley Field.

There was the minimum amount of scoring possible in this ballgame as the Indians scored the only run of the game in the top of the third on an RBI single by Michael Brantley, which brought in Rajai Davis for the lone run.
Adam Plutko was recalled from AAA-affiliate Columbus Clippers for Wednesday night’s game to start in place of the struggling Josh Tomlin and he didn’t disappoint.
Plutko refused to give up a single run to the Cubs in six innings pitched and only surrendered two total hits and struck out four batters.
Plutko had a no-hitter going all the way into the seventh inning when he was then relieved by Andrew Miller after giving up a pair of hits. Miller then threw 1 2/3 shutout innings, only giving up one hit and was then followed by 1 1/3 shutout innings by closer Cody Allen.
It was just Plutko’s second start of the season and he now has a record of 2-0 so far. With the way he has looked in his two starts this season, there could be a high probability that he will retain his spot in the starting lineup.
Tribe manager Terry Francona was very pleased with Plutko’s performance and sang his praises in his postgame press conference.
"He didn't give in."
