So the 27-21 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers in the Big Ten Championship Game wasn’t enough. Ohio State came in at #5 in the CFB Playoff Rankings today, falling just short of Alabama and that #4 seed in the playoffs.

At the beginning of a football season for Ohio State, there are three main objectives. Number one, beat that team up North. Number two, win the Big Ten. Number three, compete for a National Championship. Two out of three is not bad and the future is bright at Ohio State.

The Buckeyes will play in the Cotton Bowl on Friday, December 29th in AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Their opponent will be the 11-2 PAC-12 Champion USC Trojans. The Trojans were ranked 8th in the final rankings after beating Stanford Friday night.

Ohio State is an early 7 point favorite over USC. These teams would originally play in the Rose Bowl, but as the Rose Bowl is one of the rotating bowl games that is a Playoff Semifinal this year, the bowl will actually be the Cotton Bowl.

The game will kick off around 8:30pm on ESPN on Friday, December 29th.
